Saint Athanasius church

The church of Agios Athanasios has the style of a basilica and is located at the highest point of the village, from where one has a wonderful view of the Corinthian Gulf and the whole of the plain of Korinthia. Agios Thanasis was built around 1938 – 1939 by the craftsman Yannis Praxoulis. However, due to financial difficulties and the Occupation that intervened, it remained without a roof for several years. In this church, Divine Liturgy is celebrated twice a year: on the feast of Agios Athanasios (12 January) and on the feast of Metamorphosis (6 August), when the grapes of the new production are blessed.

The information was taken from the book “Kryoneri (Matsani) Korinthia History and daily life” by George V. George Nikolaou.
