The amphiteatre was built in 1998, by the local community of Kryoneri and is used for cultural outdoor activities. Every year, during the Cultural Week, artists are invited in Kryoneri to perform for the entire village community.
The city of Sykion decided to renovate the theatre in 2016, the, in the year of 2018, the Jakobi Jewish family donated money to express their gratitude towards the descendants of the families who have sheltered them during the Nazi occupation. This opened up the possibility of a further renovation of the building. After 74 years, Ricky Jakobi has returned to Kryoneri to once again see the place where she had fled from Athens with her family to escape deportation.
